But conflicting reports allege that Britney is dating a somewhat random man who has a string of criminal offenses behind him. Who’s telling the truth?

Does Britney Spears have a boyfriend?

On Instagram, Britney appears to be countering rumors that she’s dating ex Paul Richard Soliz.

Late on Sunday, another (bizarrely controversial) Britney Spears dancing video included a caption.

Alongside a string of emojis, Britney wrote: “Beautiful Sunday Hopeless, romantic understanding that being single is awesome !!!”

However, according to Us Weekly, Britney Spears is still dating Soliz. The report came out just days before Britney’s post.

Why is the alleged relationship controversial? Well, Soliz worked as Britney’s housekeeper; he reportedly would “clean toilets, mop floors, and pick up trash.”

Soliz is also a convicted felon.

While we can all understand that very good people can break laws and very bad people can operate within the law, it does raise both eyebrows and questions.

Is Britney Spears telling the truth?

“Britney and Paul are definitely together,” an inside source reported, adding: “He’s still in the picture.”

The report insisted that they are together. But that seems to fly in the face of Britney, who would surely know her relationship status better than anyone else, describing herself as “single.”

Not for nothing, but Britney has a whole song about being “in love with a criminal.” Which … seems a little on the nose, especially for a song that’s a dozen years old.

“Criminal” is not Britney Spears’ best song from Femme Fatale, and Femme Fatale is not her best album.

(It’s underrated, though — the way that some Britney stans talk about it, you’d expect a catastrophe like Britney Jean)

As for Soliz’s criminal history, he has faced multiple misdemeanor charges and one felony.

Some of it’s sort of … not exactly alarm bell material. In 2014, a court convicted Soliz on one count of disturbing the peace.

However, the charge of child endangerment against him is causing more double takes. He ended up getting that charge dismissed during a plea negotiation.

Since September, we have read conflicting reports. Some claim that the two are dating.

Others counter, insisting that there’s no truth to Britney Spears dating this criminal boyfriend.

We hope that Britney is a good enough judge of character to know a scumbag from a good person who has simply had some run-ins with the law. There is a huge difference.
