The Canadian Premier League’s HFX Wanderers FC are bringing two of the club’s core values to the pitch with their kits for the upcoming 2024 season
The Wanderers unveiled both their new primary and alternate kits at an event Tuesday night at the Light House Arts Centre in downtown Halifax. Manufactured by league-wide supplier Macron, the kits are “inspired by our community in Atlantic Canada and two of the club’s core values: Integrity and Innovation.”
The primary kits is the Wanderers’ signature shade of Harbour Blue and is covered in a pattern of citadel shapes (the same shape as their primary crest) that form repeating maps of Nova Scotia, with small anchors marking the location of Halifax. The citadel shapes come from the Halifax Citadel, a national historic site that’s visible from the Wanderers’ home ground.
The crew neck collar has light blue and white trim, and the sleeve cuffs have Harbour Blue and light blue stripes separated by white.
On the back, under the player number, is a sublimated tonal compass rose with the slogan “Not all those who wander are lost, they’re seeking a place to call home” printed around it.
The alternate kit, meanwhile, celebrates the spirit of innovation found in Atlantic Canada, particularly in the area of shipbuilding. It features a new “icy blue” base that’s covered in a collage of ship silhouettes, including the Bluenose II (also found on the Canadian dime), the HMCS Sackville (now a museum ship moored in Halifax) and ships under construction.
The navy blue collar features a notch at the front, and the sleeve cuffs have navy blue and grey stripes separated by yellow.
The Wanderers open their 2024 CanPL regular season on Saturday, April 13, when they travel to Victoria, B.C., to take on Pacific FC. Their home opener comes two weeks later when they host Atlético Ottawa.
