Yesterday, Jake Paul and former Heavyweight champion Mike Tyson announced that they would be fighting in July at AT&T Stadium and streaming live on Netflix.
Paul accompanied the post with a hype video of Tyson training, but the video is from four years ago, not two weeks ago like Paul said when he posted on X.
The footage was shot and posted by Tyson before his fight in 2020 against Roy Jones Jr., which ended in a draw. Tyson has not fought in a non-exhibition boxing match since his retirement in 2005.
“He’s grown significantly as a boxer over the years, so it will be a lot of fun to see what the will and ambition of a ‘kid’ can do with the experience and aptitude of a GOAT,” Tyson said of Paul in a statement, according to the New York Post. “It’s a full-circle moment that will be beyond thrilling to watch, as I started him on his boxing journey on the undercard of my fight with Roy Jones, and now I plan to finish him.”
Paul, known for his time as a YouTuber and his time on the Disney Channel show Bizaardvark, where he starred alongside Olivia Rodrigo, started boxing in early 2020. He has won nine of the 10 fights in his career, losing to Tommy Fury His brother Logan, also a YouTuber and internet personality, competes in the WWE.
