Wayne Brady recently opened up about the “biggest misconception” people have about pansexuals.
The host, 51, told PEOPLE that individuals “think that you’re an indecisive bisexual. It’s like, no, no, no, no.”

At the 2024 GLAAD Media Awards, he shared, “I had to do research and find out what it was that I was.”
What Wayne Says People’s Biggest Misconception Of Being Pansexual Is
“I think the biggest misconception — and I even make a joke about it onstage tonight — is that people think that you’re an indecisive bisexual. It’s like, no, no, no, no, no. Let me set you straight.”
Wayne took the time to break down the meaning.
“What the definition basically boils down to is, regardless of gender, regardless” he explains. “So that means that I am happily free to fall in love with anybody here. If you’re gay, if you’re straight, if you’re non-binary, trans, I don’t care.”
The actor says it is “the ultimate in acceptance,” so “I win.”
He previously told PEOPLE that being pansexual was like “bisexual — with an open mind.”
The ‘Whose Line Is It Anyway?’ star admitted that he gets why people are confused by the term because he was initially unfamiliar with its meaning.
When Brady Publicly Revealed His Sexuality
His ex-wife Mandie Taketa, with whom he shares a 20-year-old daughter, supported his decision.
“…I knew coming out would help him be happier,” she stated.
The TV personality underwent therapy to understand himself. He was being treated for “love addiction” when he began to question his sexuality.
He found himself pondering, “Wayne, um, are you gay?”
“And the answer was no because despite having been in all of these unsuccessful relationships and now dealing with what I know can be diagnosed as love addiction, I started to go, ‘Okay, I’m feeling something, but I just don’t know how to get there,’” he said.
Brady admitted to being attracted to the same sex but “always pushed that aside” due to his upbringing and the judgment he may face from the world.
The host said he did feel “shame” and did not want people to find out despite having support in the LGBTQ+ community.
When he finally decided to live his truth, he said he received an avalanche of support via “DMS, emails and texts from people,” as previously reported.
Wayne Brady added it doesn’t matter what stage you are in life, you can always choose to live as your authentic self.
He said, “It’s never too late to take hold of your story. Past a certain point, life becomes too short to live in the dark.”
